Skybot Scheduler 3.7 gives users greater flexibility for enterprise job scheduling

Minneapolis, MN, November 13, 2014—Skybot Software, a division of HelpSystems and developer of automation software for distributed systems, today announced a new release of its job scheduling software. Skybot Scheduler 3.7 expands the capability for scheduling with job suites.

With this new release, users will be able to set up alternative path processing for job suites based on the completion status of a member job. Defining how a job suite will continue to perform based on the failure or completion of certain prerequisite jobs gives users more flexibility to build complex, event-driven enterprise schedules across distributed systems.

“The latest release of Skybot Scheduler is very exciting because it gives our customers even more control in automating their business processes,” says Jim Cassens, President of Multi-Platform software at HelpSystems. “With the new alternative path processing feature, Skybot Scheduler customers can define specific actions to be executed based on the outcome of a suite member job. More process control with less intervention—that’s Skybot 3.7.”

Customers already using Skybot Scheduler can upgrade to this latest version to access the new features. HelpSystems also offers a free 30-day trial of Skybot Scheduler, which includes full product access and free support.

Long-time security expert, Pat Botz, recently joined HelpSystems. Botz goes way back in the computer industry. He wrote the Basic compiler and CAD tools for Control Data supercomputers and then lead the development of CAD tools for its AIX workstation line three decades ago. He eventually became a lead security architect for the IBM i platform, and left Big Blue a number of years ago to start his own security firm, Botz & Associates. Dan sat down to have a chat with Chris Heim, chief executive officer of HelpSystems, and John Vanderwall, vice president and business unit manager for security services at the company, as well as Botz, who now has a senior security services consultant position at the company.
