Anatomy of a Bot
What is a Bot?
Bots are agents that interpret and execute tasks on your behalf. Bots can handle a lot of the repetitive tasks that humans perform every day. They don’t replace human employees but take care of tedious tasks, allowing humans to do what only they can do. Think of bots as an extension of your human workforce, just with slightly different anatomy.
Bots can locate and read data in a document, email, Excel file, or window.
By connecting with ERP, CRM, core banking, and other business systems, bots can distribute data where it needs to be in whatever format is necessary.
Data Extraction and Processing
Whether it’s reformatting, extracting data, balancing, or checking for errors, RPA bots can transform your data before moving it.
RPA bots can grab the data you need from a webpage, application, green screen, file, or other data source.
File and Data Movement
Whether it’s event-trigger or time-based, bot technology can take files or data sets and move them to another location, whether that’s to a customer, vendor, application, or department.
What Can an Automate Bot Do?
Bots can start a task or workflow based on any number of triggers. Say a file is uploaded to an FTP system. An Automate bot can download that file, scrape relevant data from it, upload to your database, then send an email to let the right person know that the data has been successfully processed. Automate bots can perform the process they’re tasked with once or 10,000 times and do it accurately every time. People use bots to handle tasks from user provisioning to website monitoring to Excel automation (and more!).
