Patrick Botz is an internationally known information security expert whose expertise includes security strategy, security policy enforcement, password management and single sign on (SSO), industry and government compliance, and biometrics.

Patrick is a former Lead Security Architect at IBM, where he founded the IBM Lab Services security consulting team. From there, Pat went on to develop his own security consulting firm, Botz and Associates. Patrick has attained intimate knowledge of system security capabilities and pitfalls on a broad range of platforms, with special emphasis on IBM i (formerly AS/400), AIX, Unix, and Linux operating systems. He also architected the single sign on solution for OS/400 and i5/OS.

Early in his tenure at IBM, Patrick led the AIX work station tools team for CAD/CAM systems in Rochester, MN. Previous to IBM, he worked for Control Data Corporation with responsibility for CDC's Basic compiler, and for ETA Systems, Inc., a wholly owned supercomputer manufacturing subsidiary of CDC, where he was team leader for the distributed, Unix-based electronic computer-aided design (ECAD) tools.

Pat is also a published author and a worldwide speaker on various platform-specific and general security topics. He no longer works at Fortra.
