Send a Literal Percent Sign (%)
Where a literal percent (%) is needed it should be doubled as %
When needing a literal character such as a percent (%) in a variable or an action, such as 'Send Keystrokes', it is most likely to be interpreted as an incorrect variable or constant if a single character is used.
All variables are surrounded by percent signs at the beginning and end of the variable name to tell Automate that the text between the % is a variable (or expression), and should not be taken literally. If only one percent appears it will be interpreted by Automate as incomplete.
Where a literal percent (%) is needed it should be doubled as %. For example, if needing a literal percent (%) when sending keystrokes your 'Send Keystrokes' action should look like the following task.
