Learn how to use Automate’s built-in functions for deploying agents to your server and VMs across your network. Pat Cameron, Director of Automation, gives you a step-by-step walkthrough of creating and deploying an agent. In this video you’ll learn:
- How to find the Task Agents tab in Automate Enterprise to use the Automate Agent Deployment Wizard
- Step-by-step instructions for setting up an agent for deployment
- How to get an agent up and running to create tasks on
Watch this chapter now to learn how to get started.
Pat: Automate has a built in function to deploy agents to your servers and VMs across your network. The first thing that you'll want to do is check the list of prerequisite software and hardware requirements before you start the install.
The next thing you can do is go to the agent's tab on the automate enterprise [00:00:30] interface and select deploy. This will bring up the wizard to allow you to deploy those agents. So, you can select either deploying to a domain or work group, and then the network or an active directory. I'm just going to do a manual configuration.
So, I'm going to put in the name of my server. Go ahead and add that. Click next. Next thing I'm going to do is put in a domain user name that has administrative [00:01:00] rights to that server so I can install the software, and this is another server in the domain, so I'll put the domain name in here.
And then the next thing it's going to ask me for is the administrator password for automate enterprise so that we can install the agent software. It takes a couple of minutes for that software to go install. It's going to go make sure that the prerequisites are installed on the server, checks the OS, and then it will start downloading the files.
[00:01:30] Now, I sped this up a little bit. Usually this install probably ... It took me about a three and a half, maybe four minutes for this install to complete. So, I sped this video up just a little bit. So, it maps the drive on the agent, copies the software, runs the install, and it will automatically start up the service when it's completed on that agent so your agent will be ready to use as soon as this install [00:02:00] is finished.
As soon as it finishes, and I go ahead and close this window, you'll see the other agents that I have behind here. And now there's my new PCameron1215 agent. It's up and running and ready to create tasks on.
