Version 3.0 Now Available for Skybot Scheduler, Web-based Workload Automation Solution

July 11, 2012

Eden Prairie, MN July 11, 2012 -- Skybot Software today announced the release of version 3.0 of Skybot Scheduler, their web-based workload automation solution for Windows, UNIX, and Linux servers. This release delivers significant security enhancements with LDAP/Active Directory® (AD) and high availability (HA) support and simplifies job stream creation and maintenance with the Job Suites feature.

“Companies rely on workload automation to meet the 24/7 service demands of their customers. Successful automation requires simplicity in the workflow, flexible operational control, and minimal maintenance,” said Pat Cameron, Director of Automation Technology at Skybot Software.

“The Job Suites feature displays and runs complex job streams as a single entity, removing excess detail and reducing maintenance. Users are able to reuse jobs across multiple schedules and quickly understand the relationships between processes for improved clarity and perspective.”

Highlights of version 3.0 include:
LDAP/Active Directory(AD): LDAP Authentication lets users log in to Skybot Scheduler using existing LDAP passwords. LDAP Authorization lets administrators manage both users and passwords from the LDAP server.

High Availability Support: High availability protects from long-term, unscheduled downtime of the Skybot Scheduler server. Skybot Scheduler provides automatic agent switchover once the standby server has been activated.

Job Suites: This feature makes it easier to automate complex workflows with improved clarity, more operational control, and less maintenance.

“Skybot Scheduler version 3.0 contains several important features our customers expect from a comprehensive workload automation solution and is consistent with our long-term goal of providing a robust scheduler without the complexity, cost, or overhead of other tools,” Cameron said.

Since introducing Skybot Scheduler in September of 2010, Skybot Software has released 14 version enhancements, including 3 major product updates.

Skybot Software is offering a free 30-day trial of Skybot Scheduler. The trial includes full product access and free support.

He eventually became a lead security architect for the IBM i platform, and left Big Blue a number of years ago to start his own security firm, Botz & Associates. Dan sat down to have a chat with Chris Heim, chief executive officer of HelpSystems, and John Vanderwall, vice president and business unit manager for security services at the company, as well as Botz, who now has a senior security services consultant position at the company.
