Skybot Job Scheduler Stabilizes and Streamlines Financial Transactions for Fundtech

Skybot job scheduling software also helped the financial services provider meet SLAs and eliminate an extra shift

Minneapolis, MN, April 18, 2013—Skybot Software, a Help/Systems company, announced today that its customer, Fundtech - a leader in financial technology services - has reduced overhead and improved client transaction services with Skybot Scheduler, a web-based enterprise scheduling and workload automation solution for Windows, UNIX, and Linux servers.

Fundtech hosts transaction and processing services for over 500 global clients with tight deadlines and strict Service Level Agreements. Reliable job scheduling software is central to providing profitable service.

“We’re moving hundreds of thousands of files a day,” says Marni Jessie, Manager of Technical Support Services. “We’re constantly adding new customers and bringing new servers online. We couldn’t afford a solution that would slow down if it tried to handle more than 10,000 files.”

Unfortunately, the automated file transfer tool that Fundtech initially implemented was unreliable. “It had a lot of internal failures,” says Jessie “When it stopped working, files would just sit there and wait to be picked up.”

With Skybot Scheduler in place, Fundtech is able to accommodate its growing customer base and processing demands with more reliable file transfer services, allowing them to satisfy current client SLAs.

“I’ve been pretty vocal about Skybot Scheduler with our clients,” says Jessie. “I think it’s important to share information about the good products behind our services. They know that Skybot Scheduler is protecting their file transfers.”

In addition to replacing unreliable software and reducing overhead, Skybot Scheduler also allowed Fundtech to eliminate a 3rd shift and reassign valuable staff to other strategic projects.

Fundtech’s setup of Skybot Scheduler works over a Microsoft Windows® infrastructure to collect transaction files and move them to prescribed destinations. “Skybot Scheduler moves files from place to place and syncs them appropriately during processing,” says Jessie. “The product is great and with great service on top, there’s nothing else that can touch it.” To read or download the entire Fundtech case study, visit the Skybot Software website at www.skybotsoftware.com/resources/success-stories/fundtech-financial-services.

Long-time security expert, Pat Botz, recently joined HelpSystems. Botz goes way back in the computer industry. He wrote the Basic compiler and CAD tools for Control Data supercomputers and then lead the development of CAD tools for its AIX workstation line three decades ago. He eventually became a lead security architect for the IBM i platform, and left Big Blue a number of years ago to start his own security firm, Botz & Associates.
