Setting Up Robot/NETWORK to Work With a Robot/SAVE Data Center
This Help/FACTS describes how to install and configure Robot/NETWORK 10 to work with a Robot/SAVE 11 data center.
Attention: The configuration described in this Help/FACTS is not a standard Robot/NETWORK configuration. In this configuration, Robot/NETWORK can be used only with a Robot/SAVE data center.
Before You Begin
Keep the following items in mind before you set up Robot/NETWORK and your Robot/SAVE data center.
- Robot/SAVE must be at release 11.0 or higher. To use Robot/NETWORK with Robot/SAVE, Robot/NETWORK Host R10M00 or higher and/or Node R10M00 or higher must be installed and configured on the IBM i servers that will be in the data center.
- To display your current release and modification levels, type RBTSYSLIB/RSLVER from a command prompt and press Enter.
- To use Robot/NETWORK with a Robot/SAVE data center, you cannot be using cross-system reactivity with Robot/SCHEDULE, or message escalation with Robot/CONSOLE, in your environment.
- For successful network communications, Robot/NETWORK requires a fully qualified TCP/IP host name in the format of system_name.domain_name to be in the host table and/or the DNS server. You can use the command CFGTCP and options 10 and 12 to set up host names. For more information, contact your system administrator or Help/Systems Technical Support.
- To set up Robot/NETWORK, you need to know the system names and IP addresses of your Host and Node system(s).
Prerequisite System i Software
To use Robot/NETWORK, you must have the following software installed on your IBM i server:
| OS Level | Software Required |
| Any* |
QSHELL - product option 0030 Portable App Solutions Environment (PASE) Option 33 |

* Robot/NETWORK is supported for i5/OS V5R4 and higher.
Setting Up Robot/NETWORK and Your Data Center
To set up Robot/NETWORK and your Robot/SAVE data center, do the following:
- Install and configure Robot/NETWORK Host, or higher, on the system that will be the Host system. During the installation, a screen displays to help you configure the Host system. You must know the system name and IP address of your Host system.
- Install and configure Robot/NETWORK Node on the system(s) that will be part of your Robot/SAVE data center. During the installation, a screen displays to help you configure the Node system. You must know the system name and IP address of your Host and Node system(s).
- Verify that your Robot/Network systems are communicating properly by entering the following command on the Host system and reviewing the job log:
- Set up your Robot/SAVE data center using the Help/FACTS, Defining a Data Center, located on the Help/Systems Web site at https://www.helpsystems.com/uploads/rbsdefdc.pdf.
Note:
To configure Robot/NETWORK, the following Robot/Network monitor jobs must be active in the RBTSLEEPER subsystem on the Host system: NETHOST, NETHOST1, NETHOST2, and NETHOST3. On the Nodes Netnode, Netnode1, Netnode2, if these monitors are not active, use the following command to start them:
RBTNETLIB/RBNSTRHOST
RBTNETNODE/RBNSTRNODE
RBTNETLIB/RBNPOLLSYS SYSTEM(*ALL)
