Robot/NETWORK Pre-Checker

These instructions describe how to download and use the Robot/NETWORK pre-checker (a Robot/NETWORK software utility) to determine whether a Robot/NETWORK installation or conversion will complete successfully on your IBM i server.

Using the Pre-Checker Software

To use the Robot/NETWORK pre-checker software, do the following steps:

  1. Download and install the Help/Systems Product Maintenance Wizard from the Help/Systems Web site to your PC.
  2. Download the Robot/NETWORK pre-checker software from the Help/Systems Web site to your PC.
  3. Use the Product Maintenance Wizard to upload the pre-checker software from your PC to your IBM i server. The upload process restores the Robot/NETWORK NETCHECK library on your IBM i server.
  4. Execute the Robot/NETWORK pre-checker utility on your IBM i server by entering the following command from a command prompt and pressing function key 4:

    5. NETCHECK/RBNPRECHK

  5. Supply the following option(s) and press Enter:
    • Enter *NEW if Robot/NETWORK is not currently installed on the IBM i server.
    • Enter *UPGRADE if Robot/NETWORK 10 is currently installed on the IBM i server and you want to convert to Robot/NETWORK 11.
    • Enter *YES if the IBM i server is your Robot/NETWORK Host.
    • Enter *NO if the IBM i server is not your Robot/NETWORK Host.
  6. When the pre-checker utility is complete, do the following to determine the results:
    • Review the screen that displays.
    • Examine the job log.
    • Use the WRKSPLF command to view the RBNINSTP spooled file.
  7. You can rerun the pre-checker utility as often as necessary. After you are finished using the utility, enter the following command from a command prompt to delete the library from your IBM i server:

    8. DLTLIB NETCHECK
