Moving Robot/ALERT to Another System

Before You Begin

  • If Robot/ALERT is the only Robot product on the new system (or the first product on the new system), please call Help/Systems Technical Support for more information.
  • Make sure that you have a security code for Robot/ALERT on the target system. If you do not, contact your Help/Systems Regional Sales Manager.
  • If you are using TCP/IP communications, make sure that the SMTP server you use is defined to the target system’s Host table or to your DNS server.
  • If you are using Robot/ALERT with a modem, consider the following items on the target system:
    • Does the phone line require a prefix (such as 9) to access an outside line?
    • Is the resource name different on the target system? If it is, you must delete and re-create the communication jobs on the target system using Robot/ALERT. To do this use option 2, Maintain Communication Jobs, from the System Setup Menu after you have moved Robot/ALERT.
    • Is the modem you will be using on the target system the same type of modem that you are using on the source system? Is it an asynchronous modem?
