Installing Robot/AUTOTUNE 8.0

Before You Begin

Read these instructions completely before you begin.

You must be running IBM i V6R1 or higher to install Robot/AUTOTUNE 8.0.

Installing Robot/AUTOTUNE

  1. Sign on under a user profile that is a member of the user class *SECOFR and has at least the following special authorities: *ALLOBJ, *SECADM, *JOBCTL, and *IOSYSCFG. The user profile should have Limit capabilities set to *NO.
  2. Make sure that the library QTEMP is in your library list before you start installing.
  3. Enter the following command to display the Maintain Help/Systems Products menu:
  4. RBTCDRLIB/HLPCDMENU

  5. Select option 1 from the Maintain Help/Systems Products menu to display the Install Products panel, which lists the Help/Systems products not currently installed on your system.
  6. If you would like more information about a product and its features, enter a 3 next to the product name.

  7. Option 1 on the Install Products panel displays the Install Instructions panel for the product; this is the same information included in the Before You Begin and After You Are Done sections of these instructions. 
  8. When you are ready to start installing, enter a 2 next to Robot/AUTOTUNE on the Install Products panel.
  9. The installation program installs Robot/AUTOTUNE. When the installation completes, read the After You Are Done instructions for any additional information or instructions.

After You Are Done

Enter one of the following commands to display the Auto Tune Menu:

ATLIB/ATM

GO ATLIB/ATM

If RBTSYSLIB exists on your system, enter RBO and select option 3.

Follow the instructions in the Robot/AUTOTUNE User Guide to set up Robot/AUTOTUNE 8.0 on your system.

Robot/AUTOTUNE performance factor values default to megabytes (MB). You can specify values using either MB, KB, or percentages, but there are limitations. See the Robot/AUTOTUNE User Guide for complete information on entering performance factors. If you have software applications that run multithreaded jobs, contact Help/Systems Technical Support for advice on calculating and maintaining minimum activity levels.

Robot/AUTOTUNE requires a new permanent security code. If you do not receive a permanent security code, call your regional sales manager.

You can access an online version of the Robot/AUTOTUNE user documentation from the Help/Systems download page and Help/FACTS page.

Note: The Help/Systems installation process restored the following three libraries to your system for use during installation: HSBOOT, RBTCDRLIB, and HSSAVF. In case you are doing multiple installations, we do not remove them from your system. You can delete them when you have finished your installations.
