Install, Update, or Convert a Robot Product: Transfer Save Files from a PC to the System i

Before You Begin

If your System i is inaccessible because of physical security or location, you can still use the CDs labeled i5/OS Code (Blue CDs) to install, convert, or update any Help/Systems product. Use the following instructions to complete the process.

Notes:

  • If you are updating one or more products and the products already have been ended, the Product Maintenance Wizard will FTP the correct files and perform the update automatically.
  • Enter the WRKSYSVAL command and check that the QALWOBJRST and QVFYOBJRST system values are set as follows. If not, change them to the following values.
    • QALWOBJRST = *ALL
    • QVFYOBJRST = 1

Preparing for the Install, Conversion, or Update

  1. Download the Robot Product Maintenance Wizard from the Help/Systems Web site (www.helpsystems.com/support/support-downloads/software-updates) to your PC or install the Wizard from the CD labeled PC/UNIX Code & User Guides (Red CD).
  2. Place the appropriate CD labeled i5/OS Code (Blue CD) into the CD drive of the PC. Check the CD label to determine which CD contains the product you are working with. The CDs contain the software required to install, convert, or update each Help/Systems product. Locate the appropriate product library (use the list of product libraries included with these instructions). Double-click its icon to start the Robot Product Maintenance Wizard and display the Product File Location window.
  3. We recommend you accept the default file location for the product. Click Next to display the Choose a Destination iSeries window.
  4. Enter the TCP/IP address or system name of the System i on which you want to install, update, or convert the product. Note: Your FTP port (port 21) must be open for this process to work properly.
  5. When the Choose Login Information window displays, enter a System i user profile and password.
  6. Note: The user profile you specify must have *ALLOBJ authority. Click Next to display the Confirm Update window.

  7. On the Confirm Update window, review the information you’ve entered and click Start. The Product Maintenance Wizard opens an FTP session to the specified System i and transfers the proper files. The file transfer can take several minutes.
  8. When the file transfer completes and the product has been updated on the System i, the Product Maintenance Wizard displays a window indicating that the install, update, or conversion process has completed properly.

If the file transfer completes, but the install, update, or conversion process fails:

Do the following to complete the process:

  1. Sign on to the System i with a user profile that has *ALLOBJ authority.
  2. End the product(s) to be updated and the RBTSLEEPER subsystem.
  3. Note: You do not need to end RBTSLEEPER if you are installing Robot/SPACE from a current CD.

  4. Enter the following command:
