How to Download and Install Software from the Help/Systems Web Site
Use these instructions to help you download Robot product software from the Help/Systems Web site.
Before You Begin
- Review the Recommended Product/Operating System Compatibility chart. If your operating system level is not shown on the chart, you cannot download software from the Web site. Contact your Regional Sales Manager for more information.
- You can download product trials, updates, and some conversions from the Web. If a product download is not available from the Web site, contact your Regional Sales Manager.
Step 1: Register with Help/Systems
New users: If this is your first visit to the Downloads page and you don’t have an account on the Help/Systems Web site, you must create one. Click the Download button and then click create an account. Complete the information on the User account page and click the Create new account button. This creates your account and displays your account page. Click Trial Downloads to download a trial or select Downloads from the menu bar to return to the Downloads page.
Returning users: If you have previously registered with the site, but currently are not logged in, click login. Enter your e-mail address and password on the User account page and click the Log in button to display your account page. Select Downloads from the menu bar to display the Downloads page.
Notes for both new and returning users:
- The e-mail address and password fields are case-sensitive.
- You remain logged in to your account for several days even if you close your browser window.
Step 2: Select Your Download Option
Select a download option from the Downloads page.
Software Trials
New customers can download a free, fully functional version of a product and an electronic version of the user documentation.
- Select Download a Trial. When the Software Trials page displays, enter the Trial Authorization Code you received from your Help/Systems Regional Sales Manager. Select the product you want to trial and follow the instructions to download everything you need for your FREE trial.
- You can use the trial version for 30 days.
Software Updates, Conversions, and User Guides
Current customers can select from the following:
- Select Download an Update to update your product to the latest modification level.
- Select Download a Conversion to convert your product to a new release level.
- Select Download User Guides to download the latest version of the user documentation in Portable Document Format (PDF).
Note: Make sure to review the conversion instructions for your product. It is very important that you review these instructions before you begin a product conversion.
Notes:
- You must have a current maintenance agreement to download an update, conversion, or user guide.
- When you select any of these options, you are asked to enter your system serial number.
Step 3: Download Your Software Files
Do the following to download your software files:
- Select the product you want to download from the drop down box. A list of files for the selected product displays. This includes the product (.hs) file, a Readme file with links to instructions, and any related downloads that are required or useful, such as Windows (.exe) files and user guides. Click each file to download the required files.
- Some downloads also have prerequisites (for example, some Windows files require that the Common Objects for Windows be installed first).
- If you are downloading a product update, verify that the product version matches the version you currently are running on your System i.
Robot Product Maintenance Wizard
The downloaded System i files require the Robot Product Maintenance Wizard. Download the Robot Product Maintenance Wizard and review the Product Maintenance Wizard Instructions for complete information.
Note: You only need to install the Wizard once. After it is installed on your PC, you can use it with all future product downloads.
Before You Install a Robot Product Trial or Update or Convert a Product
If you are installing a Robot product trial and already have another Robot product installed, or are performing an update or conversion, we recommend that the RBTSLEEPER subsystem be inactive during the process to ensure it runs trouble-free. This means that you should end your other Robot products before you start. You should plan to do your software maintenance at a time when the Robot products can be down.
