Converting From Robot/UPS 2.0 to 3.0

Product:
Robot/UPS

Before You Begin

Follow these instructions before you convert Robot/UPS version 2.0 to version 3.0.

  • Before starting the conversion, delete all history from Robot/UPS 2.0.
  • If you have multiple iSeries or i5 systems that are networked using Robot/NETWORK, you must update or convert Robot/NETWORK before continuing. You can update or convert one system at a time, but the Host system must be updated or converted first and all products on a system must be updated at the same time. Robot/NETWORK must be at the following release/modification levels or higher:
    • Robot/NETWORK Host R9M58
    • Robot/NETWORK Node R9M00
  • Robot/ALERT must be at the following release/modification level or higher: R5M00.
  • The conversion process calls a Help/Systems program to create or change the two Help/Systems user profiles, RBTUSER and RBTADMIN. The RBTUSER and RBTADMIN profiles were created for the following reasons:
    • They satisfy requests from corporate auditors that our objects be owned differently from IBM objects.
    • They allow us to build a secure product for your environment.
    • They isolate Help/Systems products from IBM changes to the QPGMR or QSECOFR profile defaults.

Note: If you have made any manual changes to the RBTUSER or RBTADMIN user profiles and their authorities, these changes will be lost with any product installation or conversion.

Converting Robot/UPS

  1. Sign on under a user profile that is a member of the user class *SECOFR and has at least the following special authorities: *ALLOBJ, *SECADM, *JOBCTL, and *IOSYSCFG. The user profile should have Limit capabilities set to *NO. Make sure no users are signed on to the product you are converting.
  2. The conversion process stops the RBTSLEEPER subsystem, which is used by other Help/Systems products. Stopping RBTSLEEPER interrupts processing by these products. Therefore, you must end all Help/Systems products by entering the following command:
  3. ENDSBS SBS(RBTSLEEPER) OPTION (*IMMED)

  4. Make sure that no users have the RBTUPSLIB library in their library list by executing the following command:
  5. WRKOBJLCK OBJ(RBTUPSLIB) OBJTYPE (*LIB)

  6. Display the Maintain Help/Systems Products menu by entering the following command:
  7. RBTCDRLIB/HLPCDMENU

  8. Before converting Robot/UPS, you can run a pre-conversion check to determine whether the conversion will complete successfully. Select option 5 from the Maintain Help/Systems Products menu and enter the following special code:
  9. HLPSUPS03

If the results indicate that the conversion will complete successfully, go to Step 6. Otherwise, fix any potential problems and repeat Step 5.

  10. To convert Robot/UPS, select option 4 from the Maintain Help/Systems Products menu and enter the following conversion code:
  11. HLPCUPS03

After You Are Done

When the conversion completes, enter the WRKSPLF command and check the conversion spooled files and job log for errors. Call Help/Systems Technical Support if you have any questions.

The conversion process restored two libraries (RBTUPSLIB and RBTSYSLIB) to your system. If you have Robot/NETWORK installed on your system, a third library, RBNRBUMST, also was restored.

You can access an online version of the Robot/UPS user documentation from the Help/Systems download page and Help/FACTS page.
