Converting From Robot/MONITOR 7.0 to 8.0
Before You Begin
Read these instructions completely before you begin.
- Moving from Robot/MONITOR 7 to version 8 requires you to delete version 7 and install version 8 as a new installation.
- You must have IBM i V6R1 or higher to run Version 8 of Robot/MONITOR.
- Robot/MONITOR 8 requires a new permanent security code. If you did not receive this code, call your Regional Sales Manager.
Before Deleting and Reinstalling Robot/MONITOR
Before you delete and reinstall Robot/MONITOR, do the following:
- Select option 3, System Setup, from the Robot/MONITOR menu.
- Take a screen print of this system setup information. You will need to re-enter this data after installing version 8.
- Enter the RBTMTRLIB/ENDMTR and RBTMTRLIB/ENDMTRG commands to end the ROBOTMON and RBTMSTAT jobs running in the RBTSLEEPER subsystem.
- Use the following command to delete Robot/MONITOR from your system:
DLTLIB RBTMTRLIB
Reinstalling Robot/MONITOR
Use the following instructions to reinstall Robot/MONITOR on your system:
- Log in with a user profile that is a member of the user class *SECOFR, and has at least the following special authorities: *ALLOBJ, *SECADM, *JOBCTL, and *IOSYSCFG. The user profile should have Limit capabilities set to *NO.
- Enter the following command:
- Select option 1 (Install Help/Systems Product) from the Maintain Help/Systems Products menu, and press Enter.
- Enter a 2 in the Opt column next to Robot/MONITOR on the install Products Panel and press Enter to begin the installation.
- After you have successfully installed Robot/MONITOR, enter the RBO command to display the Robot Automated Operations Solution menu.
- Select option 8, Robot/MONITOR.
RBTCDRLIB/HLPCDMENU
This displays the Maintain Help/Systems Products menu.
Follow the instructions in the Robot/MONITOR User Guide to set up your system. Use the screen print of your system setup panel to re-enter your system setup data. Enter the command CALL RM9000S to enter your version 8 permanent security code.
Note: Remember to run the RBTMTRLIB/MTRFLPMOD command to change the mode to *NETWORK if you are running Robot/MONITOR in a *NETWORK mode to interface with Robot/NETWORK.
After You Are Done
If you use network security software on your system, you should be aware that the Robot/MONITOR GUI uses the DDM TCP/IP server. If you have a firewall over the DDM server exit point, users running Robot/MONITOR PC graphs must be authorized to the DDM server.
