The integrated file system (IFS) is becoming an increasingly important feature of the System i platform because of its ability to contain multiple file system structures.

This three-part, Internet-based, live, instructor-led class  provides basic knowledge of the integrated file system, its capabilities, and its limitations.

Class includes three 1-hour sessions and will be held at 1 p.m. (Central Time) on

  • May 24, 26 & 28 or
  • October 5, 6, & 7

The class highlights how to secure, audit, and back up/restore the IFS. It uses hands-on exercises to explore the IFS.

Who should attend

This course is designed for data center personnel working with the System i IFS. Systems Administrators and Operators will benefit from this course.

Course summary

This course focuses on explaining the System i IFS using primarily green screen functions for content and exercises. The topics include:

  •  IFS Concepts
  •  File Systems in the IFS
  •  Securing objects and directories
  •  IFS data access and journaling
  •  Backing up the IFS

Length

Three 1-hour sessions over three days.

Prerequisites

1. A high-speed Internet connection (DSL, cable modem, or T1).

2. A screen resolution of 1024 x 768 or higher.

Registration
Each person who wants to take the class must register. Class size is limited to give participants the individual attention they need. Registration is required at least 72 hours before the class. You can cancel your registration up to 72 hours before the class without penalty. No-shows will be billed.
