October 2009 Q&A
Does Robot/SAVE work with a Virtual Tape Library (VTL)?
If the System i “sees” the VTL as a supported tape device, then Robot/SAVE can use the device. You must create virtual tape volumes on the VTL and add them to the tape inventory in Robot/SAVE before they can be used.
When I use the RBSDUPROT command in Robot/SAVE to duplicate a tape, where is history for the duplicate volume stored?
From the Save Media Management Menu, select option 11 (Tape Cross Reference Inquiry). This panel shows the original volume ID, the duplicate volume ID, and the class, set, and rotation for the original tape.
