SEQUEL System i Report Writer lets you get rid of costly pre-printed forms

Pre-printed forms are expensive and inconvenient. They require their own drawer in the printer that has to be filled when the forms run out. Would you like to consider another approach? SEQUEL’s System i Report Writer lets you create PDF files with graphic overlays.

This article describes how you can use a JPEG (.jpg) image file as a form overlay to create an Order Acknowledgement. You can create a form overlay image using a vector graphics application, such as Adobe Illustrator or CorelDRAW.

Going from Robot/SCHEDULE and Robot/NETWORK 9 to 10

When you’ve completed the planning steps [see planning article], you are ready to do the actual conversion. This article gives you an overview of the conversion process and post-conversion tasks.

Before you begin
You must update any other products that do not meet the minimum requirements outlined in the conversion instructions.

If you are converting your Robot/NETWORK Host and Alternate Host(s), end Robot/NETWORK on all the Node systems. Remember, you want to convert Robot/NETWORK before you convert Robot/SCHEDULE. Keep in mind that Robot/NETWORK cannot be converted while the system is in a restricted state. The conversion requires some communication subsystems and certain TCP/IP server jobs to be active.

My Robot/NETWORK 9.0 network has multiple Hosts. I designated one as a Meta-Host so all statuses could be redirected to its Status Center. It appears Robot/NETWORK 10 doesn’t have Meta-Hosts. How can I set up a similar arrangement in this new version?
In Robot/NETWORK 10, you must convert each Host to the new version, add them to the Robot/NETWORK Explorer Graphical User Interface (GUI), and start a connection. From the GUI, you can view the status of each system and set up escalation properties for the products on that system.
