A graphical interface worth upgrading for

If you haven’t upgraded to Robot/SCHEDULE 10.0 yet, you’re missing out!

Robot/SCHEDULE 10.0 includes a new graphical user interface (GUI) designed to help you organize your entire job schedule and access Robot/SCHEDULE’s features with just the click of a mouse.

Three views of Robot/SCHEDULE information
The Robot/SCHEDULE Explorer is the main navigation tool you use to control all aspects of your job schedule. The Explorer provides three views of your System i information: Tree view, List view, and QuickView.

The Tree view (left column) displays the system to which you are connected (artemis in the example below) and all of the options you need to set up and maintain your job schedule. You can expand the Tree view to show all items under each branch. For example, when you expand Jobs in the Tree view, you see the following job categories: All Jobs, Applications, Group Jobs, Reactive Jobs, and Submit-Delay Model Jobs.

The List view (top right) displays detailed information for the option selected in the Tree view. For example, if you click Reactive Jobs in the Tree view, the List view displays all of the Reactive jobs on the system to which you are connected.

When you right-click an item in the List view, you see all the options available for that job. Active menu options are black; inactive menu options are grayed out. A right arrowhead indicates a submenu is available for that item. When you place your cursor over an item with an arrowhead (such as Schedule Override), the submenu displays.

The QuickView (bottom right) displays detailed information about the item selected in the List view.

Report options
Robot/SCHEDULE provides a number of reports to help you manage, monitor, and maintain your System i job schedule. Other reports help you manage the Robot/SCHEDULE tools that you use for job scheduling. These include system setup reports, such as the Audit Log Report, the General System Defaults Report, and the Security Setup Report. In addition, object reports detail scheduling objects such as date objects and OPAL objects; while distribution reports indicate information by setup, job, day, and recipient. Whether you want a high-level summary, or a more comprehensive analysis of your job schedule or its components, Robot/SCHEDULE has the report.

Select Reports in the Tree view to display the Robot/SCHEDULE report categories: Schedule, Job Setup, Distribution, Schedule Objects, System Setup, and Job History. Select a report category in the Tree view to display its reports in the List view. Then, click the report name in the List view to see a brief description of the report in the QuickView, to help you determine if the report includes the information you need.

Report options

To set up a report, right-click the report in the List view and select Set Up Report. Use the Setup window to specify selection options for the report and to submit, or schedule, the report.
