Robot/UPS manages the System i during power failures and does an orderly shutdown before battery power runs out.
Robot/UPS takes control as soon as the System i switches to UPS battery power. Robot/UPS executes each action in the shutdown schedule at the appointed time. As you specified, it sends messages, holds job queues, ends subsystems, manages the shutdown of system partitions, and executes any other procedures needed. Finally, with plenty of time remaining, it shuts down the system.
Power failure management for your critical systems
Robot/UPS automates the management of power outages. Day or night, Robot/UPS detects power failures, takes control of your System i, and follows your plan for an orderly shutdown of the system. Robot/UPS manages power failures for large, partitioned systems, too.
Stop Robot/SCHEDULE jobs Automatically
When Robot/UPS detects a loss of power, it can automatically stop Robot/SCHEDULE to prevent new jobs from starting.
Calculates powerdown based on available memory
On partitioned systems, Robot/UPS compares the amount of memory a partition had when it started to the amount it has when the power fails. If memory has been moved to, or from, a partition, Robot/UPS automatically recalculates a new powerdown time based on the new amount of memory.
Receive notification of a power loss
Robot/UPS interfaces with Robot/ALERT, Help/Systems pager and e-mail messaging software, which allows you to send pager and e-mail messages from your iSeries. Send a message to your designated operator stating that the system is being shut down.
On a partitioned system, you can use Robot/ALERT to send one message from the controlling partition or set up each partition to send a message to a different operator when power fails.

Whether you have a single System i or you run your business on a partitioned System i, a loss of power means potential disaster. You purchased UPS hardware, but to be truly safe you need to automate the management of power outages.
Robot/ALERT
Use Robot/ALERT, Help/Systems pager and e-mail messaging software, to send pager and e-mail messages from your System i operator when the system is being shut down.
