This class is designed to give you a basic understanding of TCP/IP communications. This understanding will help simplify the management of an System i/Windows environment.

Course Summary

At the end of this class, you should be able to:

  1. Use and understand important TCP/IP terms and concepts to better communicate with your networking or telecommunications group.
  2. Determine how TCP/IP communications are configured on your System i.
  3. Understand how to use basic Windows and System i TCP/IP commands.
  4. Understand the basic hardware technologies used in Ethernet networks and their impact on your network’s topology.
  5. Troubleshoot TCP/IP issues by using the Open Systems Interconnect (OSI) model.

Help/Systems uses a blended approach to learning that has proven very successful. The class includes:

Length

Five hours over 5 days.

Pre-Requisites

1. A high-speed Internet connection (DSL, cable modem, or T1).

2. A screen resolution of 1024 x 768 or higher.

Registration
Each person who wants to take the class must register. Class size is limited to give participants the individual attention they need. Registration is required at least 72 hours before the class. You can cancel your registration up to 72 hours before the class without penalty. No-shows will be billed.
