Automate i5/OS job scheduling with our enterprise job scheduler
Your goal should be to achieve totally automated job scheduling and message notifications. The foundation for this capability is Robot/SCHEDULE, the job scheduler and batch job management system. Robot/SCHEDULE makes even complex job scheduling a snap! It provides dependency processing, common job streams, and dynamic parameters so that you can run night processing without an operator.
You will also want to integrate Robot/NETWORK, Robot/CLIENT, and Robot/ALERT to reach your goal.
When you add Robot/NETWORK, network management software, you can use the product master to distribute job setups to other System i systems in your network (or to other partitions within a single system). Robot/SCHEDULE also uses Robot/NETWORK to set up cross-system (or cross-partition) reactivity, where one job triggers another, and to connect jobs on remote systems (or different partitions) into logical processing groups.
Enterprise job scheduling
Use Robot/CLIENT, server operations event manager,
with Robot/SCHEDULE to create an enterprise job scheduler.
Integrate Windows and Unix tasks with System i procedures.
Schedule tasks on Windows or Unix servers. Use Robot/NETWORK
to centralize control of the all the servers (System i,
Unix, and Windows) from a single workstation. The result—System
i
tasks can react to the completion of Unix or Windows tasks—and
you've achieved enterprise job scheduling!
System i monitoring
Use Robot/ALERT, messaging software, with
Robot/SCHEDULE for System i monitoring. Robot/ALERT notifies
you—by
pager or e-mail—when important jobs fail (or complete).
Submit interactive input automatically
If you run certain
applications (such as MAPICS, BPCS, and others) that require
interactive input before jobs are submitted, you may also
need Robot/REPLAY. Robot/REPLAY, a plug-in for Robot/SCHEDULE,
automates interactive job processes. It
creates a Replay object that you can copy, play back, print, and schedule
in Robot/SCHEDULE.
