Robot/SAVE
Complete disaster protection and recovery
A major concern of your IT department is having a safe and reliable
System i backup and recovery system in place. However, any system
is prone to error—and possible disaster—if too much
human interaction is required. By automating the routine (and often
complex) tasks of System i backup and recovery, you save both
time and money.
Robot/SAVE automates the functions of disk drive backup, system
restoration, and save media management. Once you set up Robot/SAVE,
little human interaction is needed to do recurring backups, making
it the most comprehensive disaster protection and recovery system
available for the System i. Contact Help/Systems today to learn
more about Robot/SAVE.
Save the day
Robot/SAVE backs up libraries, object
lists, IFS files, Domino databases, and attached servers—automatically. You
use the same techniques and procedures to define all your backups,
making it easy to set up. Robot/SAVE uses a unique concept in automatic
backups—the “backup set.” A Robot/SAVE backup
set describes all the procedures required to do a recurring backup,
including customized media management procedures and before- and
after-save instructions. Robot/SAVE performs your backups as instructed,
day after day, night after night—automatically. If a backup
stops during the night, you can resume the save from the point
where it left off in the morning.
Encrypt your critical data
Robot/SAVE encrypts
data as it is saved to tape, making your backup tapes as secure
as your system. You specify what to encrypt—libraries,
individual objects, object lists, IFS objects, or Domino databases—and
the encryption process becomes part of your overall backup strategy.
Restoration of encrypted data is transparent with Robot/SAVE. But,
if a tape is lost or stolen, the encrypted files are unreadable.
Robot/SAVE encryption helps you comply with government regulations
or privacy laws, such as SOX, HIPAA, and PCI.
Back up clients using your System i
Robot/SAVE
brings automated backup, recovery, and archiving to
attached clients. Robot/SAVE works with Robot/CLIENT,
the server operations event manager, to back up your Windows directories
using the same procedures and strategies you use for your System
i backups.
Customize your backups with Robot/CORRAL
Use Robot/SAVE
with Robot/CORRAL, the object selection manager, to build a customized
list of objects to save or restore. Robot/CORRAL offers three object
selection methods—Automatic, Pathfinder,
or Manual—that allow you to specify selection criteria so
you save or restore exactly what you need—every time. Modify
the list at any time or have Robot/CORRAL update the object list
automatically. Robot/CORRAL is FREE with Robot/SAVE.
Exact instructions eliminate errors
Robot/SAVE’s
Save Media Management system eliminates error-prone tape handling
practices by providing exact instructions. An options window provides
instant access to any volume management procedure. Auto-move processing
tracks tapes as they move from one location to the next. Reports
assist you with planning your media operations, as well as providing
a detailed audit trail of your media volumes.
Data Center Management
Robot/SAVE offers a powerful data center management system
that allows you to manage your volumes across several systems.
Robot/SAVE routes volume-related information in its database to
all systems in the data center. You can perform volume management
and reporting tasks from any system defined to the data center.
And, you can create and maintain a centralized, yet distributed,
scratch pool while ensuring tape integrity among systems.
Restorations are the key
When you need to recover
data—whether it’s the
entire system, a library, an individual object, or a Domino database—Robot/SAVE
is the key to getting back to work fast. Robot/SAVE’s Guided
Restoration process determines the most efficient order to restore
libraries to minimize tape mounts and rewinds. You can restore
your entire system with the touch of one function key. Robot/SAVE’s
Object Archive helps you restore prior versions of libraries, database
files, source members, documents, programs, PC files, object lists,
IFS files, or Domino databases. Just locate the version you need.
Robot/SAVE tells you the tape to mount and performs the restoration
automatically.
Ad hoc tape operations
Not all tape operations involve backups. For example, commands
often write data to media volumes outside of Robot/SAVE. Robot/SAVE
monitors the volumes used in these ad hoc operations, preventing
users from overwriting valid data; manages the expiration dates
for the volumes; and releases expired volumes to the scratch pool.
The ultimate in automation
Team Robot/SAVE with Robot/SCHEDULE,
Help/Systems’ job scheduler, and your backup procedures and
tape management reporting become automatic. Use it with Robot/SAVE’s
Restricted State Utility to schedule commands, such as SAVSYS or
NONSYS, that need to run in a restricted state. Team Robot/SAVE
with an automated media library (AML) and you’re ready for
completely unattended backups.
Complete protection
Robot/SAVE has been designed to solve all of your disaster protection and recovery
needs. Guarantee that your backups are done safely and on schedule with Robot/SAVE.
