Robot/NETWORK
Management software for your
System i network
Managing a network of System i servers can be difficult. Managing a
complete enterprise of different devices, systems, and hardware platforms
is even more complex. You need good software to stay in control. Luckily,
Help/Systems has a great solution: Robot/NETWORK, our
network control package. Robot/NETWORK lets you manage all of the Robot
products on your System i networks, as well as all the other devices
and user applications throughout your enterprise. And, you can do all
of this from the most secure and reliable hardware platform in the
world—the System i.
Monitor Networks Of System i Servers
Use Robot/NETWORK to monitor a network of System i servers or LPAR
partitions, configured as Hosts and Nodes. A product on a Node sends
a status to the Node’s Host for a response. If no one on the
Host responds to the status, or if the Host is unavailable, Robot/NETWORK
can use Robot/ALERT to send a pager, e-mail, or text message. If
the status remains unacknowledged, Robot/NETWORK can use Robot/CONSOLE
or Robot/ALERT to escalate it.
Monitor All Of Your Devices Across Your Enterprise
Use Robot/NETWORK with enterprise monitoring packages, such as Tivoli
Enterprise Console, HP OpenView, Micromuse Netcool, BMC PATROL Enterprise
Manager, and CA Unicenter. You can monitor any device in your enterprise
using
two-WAY SNMP traps. With Robot/NETWORK, SNMP traps, and your Enterprise
Monitor, you enjoy the power and reliability of the System i as your
enterprise monitoring platform.
Send Product Instructions To Remote System i Servers
Use Robot/NETWORK to instruct your remote System i systems from a central
location to operate independently and unattended. Robot/
SCHEDULE’s new graphical interface, the Robot/SCHEDULE Explorer,
works directly with the Robot/NETWORK Explorer to let you create and
distribute jobs across your enterprise. Other Robot Automated Operations
Solution products have a Robot/NETWORK Product Master that you can
use to store and distribute product instructions remotely.
- Use the Robot/SCHEDULE Explorer to create and distribute jobs
and setup instructions,
and print consolidated reports from multiple systems.
- Use the Robot/CONSOLE Product Master to send setup information,
message instructions, and resource monitoring information.
- Use the Robot/MONITOR Product Master to collect and report
on performance statistics for each System i in the network.
- Use the Robot/REPORTS Product Master to send report sets, laser
commands, OPerator Assistance Language (OPAL) tables, and distribution
lists.
Fast, Point-And-Click Access
The Robot/NETWORK Explorer is a powerful, easy-to-use interface that
makes network monitoring and management quick and easy. The Explorer
displays your network components in a vertical tree structure, from
the network level down to the product level. The Explorer also displays
information about Product Masters,
distribution lists, applications, packets, system setup, and reports
(including network-wide, consolidated reports). You simply expand or
collapse the tree for more or less detail, or right-click to display
menus of options.
Map Your Network Graphically
The Robot/NETWORK Map Center displays your System i Hosts and Nodes
graphically as icons and shows you their relationships. You see clearly
the number of statuses waiting for a response on a Host, the most critical
type of
status waiting, and the current status of the communication between
a Node and Host. You can easily monitor your network, display properties
of your Host and Nodes, and respond to statuses. And, you can customize
each Map Center display with its own background, using the map or graphical
image of your choice.
Monitor Statuses Within Your Network
Robot/NETWORK lets you monitor the status of your entire network from
a single PC display. Use the Robot/NETWORK Status Center window to
respond to statuses, or to display the properties of any Host, Node,
Robot product, or user application in the network.
Manage All Of Your Applications
Robot/NETWORK can also monitor all of your applications, on all the
System i servers in your network. Just define your user applications
to Robot/NETWORK and code the Robot/NETWORK Send Status (RBNSNDSTS)
command into your programs. Status information from the applications
displays in the Robot/ NETWORK Status Center.
Benefit From Powerful Network And Product Management Features
You can use Robot/NETWORK to monitor and maintain your entire network
of System i servers and Robot products.
- Update your Robot/NETWORK Explorer automatically from the Help/Systems Web site.
- Manage licensing and updates for all of your Robot products
from a central location.
- Use the Robot Browser Interface to display, filter, and respond
to statuses anywhere using standard Web browser software and a PC
or laptop.
