Automated Operations
Technical
alliance program
Under the direction of Tom Huntington, Vice President of Technical
Services, Help/ Systems offers a Technical Alliance program. The purpose
of this program is to develop cooperative relationships with other
vendors who develop application software, systems management software,
and the hardware used by our customers.
Relationship With IBM
Help/Systems is an Advanced Member of IBM’s PartnerWorld program,
and a member of the System i Tools Innovation Program. These programs
recognize leading-edge vendors in the System i marketplace.
Membership in these programs benefits our software development, marketing,
and product support. We stay informed of developments in the System
i world, get answers to development questions, obtain technical training,
use equipment for testing, and receive i5/OS updates on an early-ship
basis.
Available Interfaces
Over the years, we have developed interfaces to many of the Robot products
through the Technical Alliance program.
Robot/SCHEDULE
Our popular scheduling product interfaces with several packages, including
IBM’s MQ Series 5.2 message software (also called WebSphere
MQ). Its SAP Interface allows users to schedule SAP on i5/OS, UNIX,
and Windows platforms. Its EnterpriseOne Interface lets you automate
EnterpiseOne jobs.
Robot/REPLAY
Software applications that require interactive input can be automated
using Robot/REPLAY. It learns interactive processes and allows you
to schedule them as batch jobs. Applications like MAPICS, JDE World,
BPCS, LAWSON are some examples.
Robot/TRAPPER
Robot/TRAPPER automates the process of monitoring your network and
applications for SNMP events. The interface opportunities are limitless.
In 2006, Robot/TRAPPER was enhanced to receive SNMP traps from enterprise
management tools responding to i5/OS messages. It works with Robot/NETWORK
or Robot/CONSOLE to provide two-way SNMP support.
Robot/NETWORK
Robot/NETWORK automates the operator duties of monitoring the network
for events that need corrective action. Robot/NETWORK works with
enterprise monitoring packages by converting critical System i events
to SNMP. This allows it to interface with common enterprise systems
management packages, including:
• HP OpenView
• CA Unicenter
• BMC PEM
• Netcool
• IBM Tivoli Enterprise
• Remedy
Robot/SAVE
Robot/SAVE automates the operator duties of system backup, recovery,
and tape management. Robot/SAVE includes special interfaces for some
of the most advanced new storage devices, including IBM and StorageTek
silos.
We’re Here To Help
If you need more information about using any of these interfaces, or
if you are using a product you think should interface to Help/Systems’ software,
contact Tom Huntington at 952-563-1606, or send
an e-mail to him.
