Where it All Started – The History of InterMapper

In the 1980s a Network Manager at Dartmouth College encountered significant challenges while attempting to monitor a network of more than 100 basement routers and devices. Handcuffed by the text-based monitoring solution he was given, he and his team set out to create an easy-to-use troubleshooting tool that yielded quick, accurate overviews of the network.

InterMapper was developed as an innovative network monitoring solution that offered real-time monitoring, visual mapping, and proactive alerting of network issues. Though our roots began in education, the solution was so successful that word of its capabilities quickly spread to other network administrators in many industries. In 2000, InterMapper was launched as a commercial product and has been trusted by over 25,000 network managers across the globe over the past 15 years.

In December 2012, InterMapper was acquired by HelpSystems, LLC a world leader in systems and network management, security, and business intelligence software.
