SEQUEL Video Demos

SEQUEL's powerful functions are best seen in a free trial at your own site. The next best thing is to review one of the demonstration movies below in order to get a feel for SEQUEL's easy-to-use graphical user interface.

Click on one of the links below to start a demonstration. The video will be shown in a new browser window. You will probably want to maximize the new window in order to see the full screen. There is a control bar at the bottom of the window that lets you pause or restart the video. When the movie is done, close the window to return here.

Designing a SEQUEL View
This video shows how easy it is to create a new view using SEQUEL ViewPoint's graphical user interface. Files, fields and other view information are easily selected from pulldown lists. AS/400 and System i data access has never been easier!
Designing a SEQUEL View Using a Template
SEQUEL Templates make query design a snap for end users. File JOINs, complex calculations and date field conversion are completely hidden from the end user. Database and calculated fields are presented with meaningful field names that are easily understood by all. This video shows the ease at which a view can be created using a Template.
SEQUEL Drill-Down
Starting with a view or graph, SEQUEL lets you "drill-down, -up or -sideways" to explore related subsets of data. This capability works directly over application database files - there's no need to build a data warehouse in order to explore business intelligence information.
SEQUEL Tabler
Starting with a view, SEQUEL tabler lets you display your data in any number of ways. This video shows how you might analyze sales data -- by month and region, graphing seasonal sales trends; by region and item, e-mailing the results as an Excel spreadsheet, and by customer, showing percent of total sales and rank ordering customers by total sales.
SEQUEL Client Reporting
The Client Reporting Option allows AS/400 and System i reports to be formatted using all the fonts and colors available with PC printers at your site. Reports may also include pictures and other formatting capabilities such as shading, borders and conditional highlighting.
E-Mail File Distribution Using SEQUEL
SEQUEL can extract information from a System i database, convert it into any number of different file formats and e-mail the data to different recipients - all in a single automated process. Most importantly, it selects and sends unique information to each recipient, so they see only the data they're supposed to see. It's easy to set up e-mail distribution, and it can be used to forward i5/OS physical files (by FTP), spooled files, customized e-mail messages and/or data converted to PC file formats.
Upload / Compare MS-Excel Files to System i Data
Managers commonly use MS-Excel to prepare budgets and create other types of 'departmental databases' for business analysis. This demonstration shows how SEQUEL may be used to automatically upload Excel files created by multiple departments to the System i, then compare the spreadsheet data with other System i database information. The example in this demonstration shows how to use SEQUEL to streamline the budget and financial analysis process.
SEQUEL Web Interface
The SEQUEL Web Interface is perhaps the easiest and most cost-effective way to get AS/400 and System i information to a web browser. This video shows how the Web Interface lets you run existing Query/400 and SEQUEL request and manage spooled files from a browser window.
J.D. Edwards Integration
SEQUEL includes a conversion function that simplifies the use of data from J.D. Edwards (JDE) application database files and improves end user access to data. A process automatically links field attribute information from JDE data dictionary files to transaction files and creates a new view of the data. The original dictionary and database files are not changed in any way. It's then a simple matter for users of SEQUEL, Query/400, spreadsheet and other third-party reporting tools to obtain meaningful information without the hassle of having to translate decimal positions or decipher cryptic field descriptions.
Convert Query/400 to SEQUEL
SEQUEL contains an Import function that lets you automatically convert Query/400 objects into SEQUEL views and reports. This video shows how easy the process is and how you can leverage your existing Queries into more advanced SEQUEL objects.
SEQUEL Administrator
The SEQUEL Administrator contains a number of useful tools to help manage SEQUEL usage at your site, including the ability to review active jobs, cancel jobs, track SEQUEL usage plus many more functions.
