Need to Create a Job? Get Robot/SCHEDULE

Do you know how many different ways you can create a new job in Robot/SCHEDULE? I’ve been working with Robot/SCHEDULE for so many years that I sometimes take for granted that everyone knows all the tricks. Let’s see if I can enlighten you.

Robot/SCHEDULE Explorer

First, you can create Robot/SCHEDULE jobs using the Robot/SCHEDULE Explorer, its graphical interface. On the list of jobs, you right-click and select New from the drop-down menu. You can do the same thing from Reactive Jobs, Group Jobs, and Agent Jobs. Plus, you can use the Job Creation Wizard or the Robot Guide toolbar options to create a job. And, you can Export to XML and Import from XML from your desktop through the same interface.

Green Screen

With the green screen version of Robot/SCHEDULE, you can either press F6, or use the Add/Copy/Delete option to add new jobs.

Commands

In the command area, the Merge ROBOT Records (RBTMRG) command can export jobs into the RBTMRGLIB library or import them from the library into the ROBOTLIB library. Customers often use this command to move jobs via save file. You also can use the Robot/SCHEDULE RBTSTRLRN command to capture jobs as they are submitted through the SBMJOB command. And, you can use the RBTBCHUPD command API interface to add jobs to Robot/SCHEDULE.

Robot/REPLAY and Other Robot Products

With Robot/REPLAY, you can use option 7 (Schedule) from the Work with Replay Objects panel to create a job into Robot/SCHEDULE that uses an interactive Replay object. Throughout the other products in the Robot Automated Operations Solution, you can add new jobs (associated with each product), using menus or graphical interfaces.

SEQUEL

Don’t forget SEQUEL, our database query tool that gives you dashboard access to your data. You can schedule its batch reporting through Robot/SCHEDULE. Customers use this feature to e-mail reports on time, or to run intensive query processes outside of normal business hours.

Compliance Monitor

PowerTech's Compliance Monitor just added batch reporting. Now, your audit team can schedule reports or processes so they can receive the information they need without having to wait for long-running audit processes to complete.

Try It Yourself

As you can see, it’s easy to create new jobs with Robot/SCHEDULE to run business processes smoothly and consistently, administer utilities, perform data reporting, and analyze security. Give it a try.
