Robot Browser Interface
Product Logo:
Ever wished you had a fast and easy way to access information in multiple locations using the device of your choice, including remote devices? You would need an interface that provides secure access to information; an interface that’s user-friendly, familiar, and doesn’t require training; an interface that works with Web browsers like Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox, as well as PCs, laptops, and PDA devices.
If this sounds too good to be true, meet the Robot Browser Interface, Help/Systems’ Web Portal interface for Robot/SCHEDULE, Robot/NETWORK, Robot/REPORTS, Robot/SPACE, and Robot/ALERT.
The Robot Browser Interface lets you access important information from many sources quickly, easily, and securely using an intranet or the Internet, a Web browser, and your favorite device: PC, laptop, or PDA. It also helps minimize installation, configuration, and administration time and effort, while providing the flexibility and power that you need for local, network, and enterprise-wide information management solutions.
Web portal interface for Robot/SCHEDULE, Robot/NETWORK, Robot/REPORTS, Robot/SPACE, and Robot/ALERT
The Robot Browser Interface uses Portals, a Web-based application that offers single-point access to multiple types of information and services. Portals let you access information located throughout a network quickly and easily from a single location using any device—PC, laptop, PDA—that can read HyperText Markup Language (HTML). Robot Browser Interface:
- Reduces the load on an IT department because there’s no software to install or update on a user’s computer
- Easy to use, easy to maintain, and especially helpful for people who connect to work over the Web.
- Uses a familiar, browser-based interface, which translates to less training time and fewer Help Desk calls.
- Integrates Robot products into your business.
- Provides a secure single access point to sensitive information and company resources
Portal Groups
A group of Portal users that access the same Portal Page when they sign on to the Portal belong to portal groups. The Portal Administrator determines the contents of each groupʼs Portal Page, ensuring that all users in a group have access to the same information.
Easy Administration
Administrators can easily add, remove, and arrange the Portlets on the Portal Group Page to organize and distribute the appropriate information for each Portal Group. Users can even customize certain Portlets.

Secure, Single Point Accessibility
Because the Robot Browser Interface uses the OS/400 security model, secured access to information is always guaranteed. The result: users can work securely with information from different servers without having to constantly log in and out of multiple systems.

Multi-platform support
The Web server is written entirely in Java, compatible with JDK 1.4 (available on your System i as a licensed program), and we provide several System i commands to help you control the Web server and the Robot Browser Interface. Help/Systems also offers Web server installations for other platforms, such as Unix and Windows. The Robot Browser Interface can be used with any supported Web browser.
Save and Print Reports From Your PC
You can save a page, the entire report, or a range of pages to a PC as a text file and open it in any spreadsheet program. You can also print directly to a PC printer from the Robot Browser Interface.
The Robot Browser Interface is a Web browser-based interface that allows you to access various Help/Systems products on multiple locations from a laptop or PC using standard Web browser software (such as Internet Explorer or Firefox).
Robot/ALERT
Use the Robot Browser Interface with Robot/ALERT to display and send messages using a Web browser. You can send messages to a single device or to a list of devices (a broadcast list).
Robot/NETWORK
Use the Robot Browser Interface with Robot/NETWORK to display statuses from a Host System i system. You can use 13 different filters to display only the statuses you want to see. You also can acknowledge or reply to statuses and display a Good Morning Report describing the number of each type of status that occurred on the Host system over a time period that you specify.
Robot/REPORTS
Use the Robot Browser Interface with Robot/REPORTS to view reports, while being able to access multiple report servers and reports from a single location.
Use the Robot Browser Interface to display the list of reports available to you from any server in the Portal configuration. You can search for and highlight text, display reports by index, select different report views, print reports, or download reports to your PC as text files to use in spreadsheet, or other applications.
Robot/SCHEDULE
Use the Robot Browser Interface with Robot/SCHEDULE to display the job completion history for your System i. You can filter the display by job type—active jobs, failed jobs, completed jobs, or todayʼs jobs. You also can display the Job Schedule List and re-sort it based on various criteria. And, you can display a Good Morning Report describing the number of each category of job that occurred on the system over a time period that you specify.
Robot/SPACE
Use the Robot Browser Interface with Robot/SPACE to display overall Auxiliary Storage Pool (ASP) and Independent Auxiliary Storage Pool (IASP) growth during various time ranges that you specify. You can display statistics graphically for one or more systems. You also can display a Good Morning Report that lists growth details about libraries, objects, IFS directories, IFS files, output queues, and clients.
